Last week Enerven had the honour of attending the Santos Power Aboriginal Cup as part of our inaugural partnership with Power Community Limited. This collaboration has empowered 35 talented students from the Aṉangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (APY Lands) to come to Adelaide and join 550 other students for the Santos Aboriginal Power Cup carnival.
In its 16-year history, the Santos Aboriginal Power Cup program has consistently worked towards reengaging First Nations students with their education. This year, with the support of Enerven, the program achieved a milestone by providing the critical funding necessary for students from the APY Lands to travel to Adelaide and participate in the carnival.
The carnival was held from Thursday, May 18th, at Karen Rolton Oval and featured a competitive football tournament with some incredible skills on display. The Enerven team loved watching the exciting games and the impressive talent from the students.
Enerven also had the opportunity to showcase the exciting career pathways available with the team during the careers fair that ran alongside the carnival. Enerven recognizes the importance of nurturing talent and encouraging our next generation to explore STEM careers. The team had the privilege of chatting with students and sharing insights about the different career options available within the sector.
Reflecting on the partnership the Executive General Manager of Enerven, Richard Amato said, "It’s a privilege to offer these brilliant individuals the opportunity to experience something special while giving them a glimpse into what they could do after they finish school”.
On Friday, May 19th all 550 participating students had the privilege of visiting Adelaide Oval. Here, they captivated the crowd with a captivating and cultural dance, marking the opening of Yartapuulti Football Club's Sir Doug Nicholls Round clash with Naarm. The power and spirit displayed by the students was a testament to the talent within their communities.
Enerven would like to congratulate all the students involved, the commitment and hard work demonstrated to earn a place to participate is an exceptional feat. Congratulations also to the winners of the Santos Aboriginal Power Cup:
