Enerven's new toy sucks!

We’ve recently added to our fleet with the purchase of a new vacuum truck. For those not in the know, a vacuum truck, or, ‘vac-truck’, as they’re known in the business, is a type of tank truck that has a pump and a tank fitted to the vehicle. It is designed to suck up things like liquids, sludges and slurries, or mixtures such as sand, dirt and water, without the contact of any mechanical equipment. It may not sound too glamorous, but they’re used in many different lines of work, and we utilise their abilities all the time to reduce manual labour and increase speed and efficiency on the job. Without these easily transportable beauties, we wouldn’t get much work done at all!

We currently use vac trucks across our nbn civil work for installing Fibre To The Premise (FTTP), Fibre To The Node (FTTN) and Fibre To The Cabinet (FTTC), as a part of the national rollout of high speed internet. Without vac trucks, this work would be incredibly hard, and almost impossible to do within the timeframes we have to adhere to.

Our brand-new work-horse is a Hino 500 series, with a vac unit that has a 1,893L spoil tank. The Hino is a mid-sized truck, which makes us more flexible with the locations we can access. With this nifty get-up, we can gain entry to areas that other units would not be able get to; and due to the tank size, we can work for a significant amount of time before needing to dump off any material taken on board.

With this new steed in the stable, our Internal capability to install pit and pipe has increased. We can perform jetting and blockage clearing of conduits, and we now have greater flexibility to respond to emergency works on projects. We are also licenced to transport liquid waste, remove and transport asbestos contaminated material, and transport oil containing liquid waste. The new rig is also endorsed to work within live HV substations and power stations.

Having a resource with all these capabilities puts us in a great position to expand our services on offer. So if you’d like to find out more about our services and expanding fleet, we’d love to hear from you.
