The environmental and associated financial benefits of a customised solar solution were incredibly appealing, and Enerven were able to provide the Glenelg Surf Life Saving Club a solar solution that delivers both.
Glenelg Surf Life Saving Club has a proud history in South Australia. The club was founded in 1931 during the early depression years, by a group of young men who felt they could be of service to the public. From 2000 through to today, the club has grown and been through numerous changes. A new building has resulted in a significant change, and The House area is now a fully operating function facility, serving both members and the public.
As a prominent organisation that supports the community, The Glenelg Surf Life Saving Club are committed to providing the best services and facilities they can for the beach going and wider public. This kind of commitment doesn’t stop at their dedication to beach related safety. The club is also a strong supporter of green initiatives, and works hard to find ways to become more environmentally friendly.
GSLSC had been considering solar for over 3 years, however, the initial cost had previously intimidated them. After a period of review at their location, Enerven was able to provide a solution that met both their environmental goals as well as helping them to navigate the financial process with ease and transparency, which was maintained throughout the entire process.
The energy usage of GSLSC is significant, so we aimed to maximise the available roof space; which was slightly challenging, due to shading issues from the HVAC system (Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning) and large pines in the north.
The optimal solution was to use a SolarEdge system, which include panel optimisers to mitigate shade losses. In addition, we used JA Solar panels which explicitly cover salt damage in their warranty, making them the perfect fit for coastal installations.
